Applying for a visa for Tanzania

Camera, binoculars, headlamp... your bag is all packed and ready for your safari in Tanzania. But you're missing one little detail: your e-Visa. This precious sesame is essential if you are to discover the country. But how do you get it? How long will it take? How much does it cost? We give you all the information you need to know about the e-Visa in this article.

A visa on arrival?

Why do we strongly advise against this? You can only do this at certain airports and ports. Immigration officials will be able to indicate any validity date they wish on your visa, but you must leave Tanzanian territory before this date to avoid any legal proceedings. What's more, only US dollars post-2006 will be accepted for payment of this visa. So why waste time at the airport after a gruelling flight?

What's a fast, secure solution?

You can make your application on the authorities' website. However, you should be aware that they will not reply to you if you need information or even if there is an error in your file...

To ensure that you get the right service for your trip and that you obtain your e-Visa, a visa agency allows you to make your application in a simple and secure way. All you have to do is fill in a form.

You can apply for an e-Visa up to 7 days before your departure. You'll receive it by email and all you have to do is print it out - it couldn't be easier!

How much does e-Visa cost?

Consular fees for an e-Visa start at 45 €excluding brokerage fees. It will allow you to enter Tanzania once and stay for a maximum of 3 months. The only documents you need to provide when you apply are a copy of your passport, a passport photo and your return flight ticket. A private agency can take care of formatting all your documents so that they are not rejected by the Tanzanian authorities.

Once you've completed the form, you'll receive your e-Visa within a week, so you can be sure you'll be able to make the most of your stay in Tanzania.
