For Tanzania: E-Visa or traditional visa?

Are you planning your trip to Zanzibar and wondering how to get your visa? We'll give you all the keys you need to obtain this document, which is essential if you want to enjoy the idyllic beaches of the Spice Island.

The complexity of the classic visa...

The classic visa is issued by the embassy between 7 and 15 days. This visa requires you to provide a number of documents such as: a travel certificate, a passport photo, a visa application form, your passport, payment by money order or cash and a stamped registered envelope. If you are unable to travel to the embassy in Paris, you will have to send these documents by post, which involves a considerable risk. Note that this visa has a higher cost than the e-Visa, which we detail next.

If you're not exhausted by the flight and you can find a shred of motivation to wait at immigration, you can obtain this visa on arrival. Please note, however, that euros will not be accepted, only US dollars (post-2006). Immigration officials themselves indicate the end of the visa's validity, so make sure that this date is in line with your planned return, otherwise you risk legal sanctions.

... facing up to the simplicity of e-Visa

The e-Visa, on the other hand, is applied for online, with everything done electronically. You no longer need to travel or take the risk of sending your identity documents by post. As the English website of the Tanzanian authorities is relatively complex, we advise you to go through a professional agency which will ensure that your application is compliant so that it is not refused.

This visa can be adapted to the dates of your stay. All you need to do is send the following information by e-mail following documents A copy of your passport, a passport photo and your plane ticket.

Once you've got that sesame in your pocket and printed out, you can allow yourself to dream of the landscapes that await you: the sumptuous marine sanctuary and coral reef, the spectacular primary forest where butterflies dance around you... and a thousand other treasures.

To protect the environment, Tanzania has banned tourists from importing any plastic bags since 1 June 2019. So be careful before packing your backpack.
